Diet

Foods and diet are very important for health and wellness. The
quality of foods that one consumes on daily basis has a great
impact on one’s health because of the foods’ accumulated effect
on the body.

Many people today seem to be concerned about what they eat.
This is evident by the myriads of natural food stores, diet
supplements, weight loss products, and healthy diet guides. Now it
seems that there are too many choices available for people
seeking healthy eating. Too many choices can create confusion.
Should I follow low carb, or low fat diet? Should I eat more
vegetable or fish? How many calories are appropriate?

Regarding the issue of diet, the underlying importance is to choose
foods that help maintain your overall health, not anyone else’s. It is
important to understand that a seemingly great diet regime may
not be appropriate for everyone. There are some people designed
to thrive with vegetables, while there are people supposed to eat
plenty of meats to maintain the health.

"Food is medicine."
There is food that works like medicine to the certain type of people
but is harmful to the other type of people in the long run. The
question is how we find favorable foods and ones that should be
avoided.

Wild animals do not suffer from obesity and food poison. This is
partially because they instinctively know what to eat and what not
to. Human beings have forgotten such ability in the course of
civilization. If we can awaken this instinct sleeping within our gene,
we don’t have to worry about healthy eating.

Carefully ask yourself. What food gives you more energy and
makes you feel good?  What food made you sick in the past?
When you were healthy, what kind of foods do you usually eat? If
you are not healthy at present, what kind of foods do you eat and
how do you feel after eating the foods?

If you are not sure what foods make you healthy, it is best to eat
variety of foods indiscriminately.

As one point of reference, the book, ‘Eat right 4 your type’ (written
by Peter D’adamo, ND) may help you look at the food differently. It
emphasizes the importance of food choices based on different
blood types, offering unique perspective of the foods.

The staff at the Sasang Acupuncture Clinic will recommend our
patient foods that should be avoided to the individual as
determined according to theories of Sasang body types.
